- The police refused to present him in court twice following his dramatic arrest on Friday, February 2

The first photos of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna emerged on Tuesday, February 6, four days since his dramatic arrest at his Karen residence on Friday, February 2.

The photos were taken outside and inside a Kajiado law court where he was taken for his case to be heard.

However, the Director of Public Prosecutions Deputy Director Nicholas Mutuku told the court that Miguna's case was being heard before another judge in Kajiado and his case file number was 174/2018.

The court was expecting Miguna after police failed to produce him in court twice. This was despite an order to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Directorate of Criminal Investigations Director George Kinoti being ordered to personally present Miguna in court.

The two senior police officers sent representatives instead, and no Miguna in tow. The Judge found them in contempt of court and announced plans to rule on this particular matter at 2 pm, Tuesday, February 6.

Prior to this, Miguna's lawyers raised questions on their client's health status, wondering if he was dead and that was why the police refused to obey orders to bring him to court.

DPP Deputy Director Mutuku confirmed Miguna was alive after reports emerged he'd suffered an asthma attack and police allegedly prevented his lawyers from giving him his medication.

Miguna has been in police custody for 4 days despite an order for immediate release hours after his arrest.

Back in Nairobi, anti-riot police ended up using tear gas to disperse agitated Miguna supporters who'd been waiting for him at the Milimani Law Courts.

On Friday, February 2, Miguna claimed police bombed their way into his house to arrest him. He accused them of carrying guns to shoot him and then claim a shootout ensued.

He was swiftly taken to Kiambu Police Station and then secretly transferred to a Githunguri police station overnight.

It was noted that he was transferred to a hostile region - a Jubilee stronghold- where hostile residents camped outside the police station baying for his blood.
